100state Raising Funds, Supplies for the Homeless

by Brian Lee

100state launched recently an Indiegogo campaign called 100friends to raise $1,500 to buy supplies for the homeless, the organization announced.

According to the coworking space’s CEO and director, Joe Sweeney, the idea came from collaborating with Friends of State Street, which strives to provide care and basic needs to the more than 400 homeless citizens of Madison, and the group wanting to make a positive impact and improve the lives of some homeless people.

“Given the recent cold weather–over 30 days below zero this winter–it’s been an especially tough year for the homeless,” Sweeney said. “If we can positively impact even one life and brighten someone’s day, our efforts are worth it.”

In addition to money, people can drop off supplies such as blankets and men’s winter boots at 100state until Monday. 100state also is collecting donations at its Material Drive Party Saturday night.

Those who contribute $100 on the Indiegogo page can have lunch with Sweeney. So far, more than $1,100 has been raised.
