A new social media platform launched today to help people better connect with their network offline.
Following its motto of “Get busy living in the real world,” private network Nextt was designed to simplify the social planning process.
“Our vision at Nextt is to provide a platform that serves this overlooked part of our social lives,” CEO and Co-Founder Mark McGuire said. “We want Nextt to be a key way that (users) can connect online so that (they) get offline into the real world with (their) friends again.”
McGuire, a serial entrepreneur who also co-founded Alice.com, Jellyfish.com and NameProtect.com, explained the idea was developed after Nextt Co-Founder Emmanuel Buah mentioned he was having difficulties scheduling pick-up soccer games.
According to a release, a set of “pre-calendar tools,” such as To-Do lists and reminders, allow friends to share ideas and finalize plans in private instead of using, say, emails or text messages.
The company is privately held and has raised nearly $1 million in seed funding to date. It “has several plans to generate revenue from the service, to be introduced later,” a spokesperson said.
Nextt is currently available through the web (including a mobile-friendly version) and on iOS. An Android version is in the works.
