Patients undergoing bariatric (weight-loss) surgery can now receive more guidance and support, thanks to a new solution from Wellbe, the company announced Tuesday.
The Guided CarePath for Bariatric Surgery made its debut this week at the Cleveland Clinic’s Medical Innovation Summit. The system takes patients through their surgery preparation and weight-loss journey.
“We designed these Guided CarePaths from the ground up for bariatric surgery programs to help set patient expectations, align their programs to standards of care and reduce variances,” CEO James Dias said in a statement. “Patients have been eager to use this tool to give themselves the best chance for success.”
According to a release, Wellbe designed the system in conjunction with surgeons, care coordinators, dietitians and bariatric nurses to provide patients with multiple benefits, including the convenience of online education, family involvement, checklists, reminders and online support groups.
The program is currently in use at Butler (Pa.) Health System and is accessed through both computers and iPads.
