Foxconn today at UW-Parkside announced details of its Smart Cities – Smart Futures Competition, which will see it commit up to $1 million over the next three years to encourage students, staff and faculty at Wisconsin’s public and private colleges and universities to develop “smart” proposals.
According to the competition website, the proposals should improve and enhance living and working environments, promote attractive streetscapes, transportation networks and living spaces and improve sustainability in Wisconsin communities. Foxconn first made the announcement in May.
“This competition will contribute to the state’s transformation into a global high-tech hub, grow and create new businesses and boost the ability to attract premier talent,” Foxconn Director of U.S. Strategic Initiatives Alan Yeung said.
The deadline for entries is Oct. 31. Submissions should follow one of four themes: Optimizing Our Resources and Strengths; Improving Quality of Life, Performance and Collaboration; Enhancing a Sustainable Economy and Environment; or Advancing Smart Manufacturing, Services and Infrastructure.
