A research team focusing on artificial vascular grafts and a team focusing on cancer immunotherapy cells won WARF Innovation Awards during the inaugural WARF Innovation Day held Wednesday at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery.
The teams, which each won $10,000, were chosen for having the potential for long-term impact, presenting a solution to a known, important problem and producing broad benefits to mankind.
The other finalists focused on:
- Machine Vision for Seeing Around Corners
- Improved Qubit to Advance Quantum Computing
- Peptide Synthesis for New Therapeutics
- Potential Cure Strategy for HIV Infection
- Receptor Discovery Could Neutralize Common Cold
The judges for the awards included Lisa Johnson, CEO of BioForward.
WARF Innovation Day was created to showcase the research and technologies taking place on the University of Wisconsin campus.
