SHINE Medical Technologies will add a “supercell,” a bank of 10 hot cells, for its medical isotope production facility in Janesville, Wis., the company announced recently.
According to a release, the biotech company hired Netherlands-based Von Gahlen to build the supercell, which will house the key processes at the end of isotope production, including the extraction, purification and packaging of the molybdenum-99. The hot cells allow for remote operation of the process equipment using specialized features.
“We’re excited to be working with such an experienced hot cell manufacturer as our partner on such an important part of our production facility,” SHINE CEO Greg Piefer said in a statement.
The project is expected to be done in the second half of 2021.
