A research team focusing on cancer immunotherapy and a team that works with stem cell-derived models of human tissue won the WARF Innovation Awards, the organization announced recently.

Jenny Gumperz and Dana Baiu submitted “Killer Combination: Multicell Conjugates for Activating Antigen-Specific T Cell Responses,” while Randolph Ashton, Gavin Knight, Benjamin Knudsen and Nisha Iyer submitted “Superior Neural Tissue Models for Disease Modeling, Drug Development and More.”

“… (T)hese awards are truly a celebration of all UW-Madison creators who have shown the world that, despite the disruption and loss caused by COVID-19, our campus continues to seek solutions to the boldest technological challenges of our time, from health to clean energy,” WARF CEO Erik Iverson said in a statement.

The teams, which each won $10,000, were selected from six finalists and more than 400 submissions.
