Connecting Chinese and American students at the University of Wisconsin has been made easier thanks to the creation of Channel C, “a YouTube talk show designed to facilitate conversations between the community of international students at UW and the community of domestic students,” UW announced this week.
“I think that having so many international students here, especially Chinese students, is a great educational opportunity–they bring China here,” Co-Founder Muge Niu said in a statement. “It’s such a waste to not take advantage of that.”
Niu, Pan Fangdi and Miao Si met this spring at UW, and all felt the cultural and social integration of Chinese students was “unsatisfactory.” Their solution, Channel C, launched this summer.
According to the Channel C website, the videos “attempt to demystify Chinese students, promote bilateral understanding, and provide an honest, diverse and vernacular perspective on China and Chinese international students.”
Episode topics include Chinese names, making conversation and “second generation rich.”
