Semba Biosciences, an innovator in the field of multi-column chromatography (MCC) instrumentation and technology for downstream purification of biologics, has been acquired by Tosoh Bioscience, the company announced recently.
“We are extremely pleased and excited to become part of the Tosoh Bioscience worldwide organization,” Semba Biosciences CEO Robert Mierendorft said in a statement. “By combining Semba Biosciences’ advanced Simulated Moving Bed (SMB) technology with Tosoh Bioscience’s best-in-class resins, we will be able to offer unparalleled efficiency and productivity in downstream processes and significantly decrease the cost of manufacturing.”
According to a release, Tosoh Bioscience, which is located in King of Prussia, Pa., is planning on expanding the Semba team in Madison.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Semba Biosciences was founded in 2005.
