Gov. Scott Walker signed into law the CASE for Jobs Act, which allows state businesses to raise money through crowdfunding, at a ceremony held today at University Research Park.
“This bill reforms government for the 21st century by providing a market-driven solution in helping startups raise the capital they need to grow and create jobs,” Walker said in a statement. “I thank Rep. Dave Craig and Sen. Leah Vukmir for their leadership on this bill.”
The CASE (Crowdfunding And Securities Exemption) for Jobs Act exempts Wisconsin companies from the cumbersome and expensive securities registration process and allows for crowdfunding, according to Craig (R-Town of Vernon), who introduced the bill.
The state assembly passed the bill in early October, and the state senate passed it in mid-October.
