The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) announced today the winners of its annual Innovation Awards.
One winner, an engineering physics team led by Ramathasan Thevamaranand, is using carbon nanotubes to build armor that’s stronger than Kevlar. The other, a cross-disciplinary team led by Sara McCoy, is making it less painful to diagnose a debilitating autoimmune disorder.
“Our Innovation Awards recognize some of the most exciting early-stage discoveries on campus,” WARF CEO Erik Iverson said in a statement. “We’re pleased to celebrate the nominees and the transformative work taking place across the UW-Madison community.”
Each team, which was selected from more than 400 entries, received $10,000.
