Filament Games unveiled its new educational game, Backyard Engineers, last week at the 2015 TCEA Convention and Exposition in Austin, Texas, the company announced recently.
“Backyard Engineers is designed to break down difficult mechanical design concepts into simple, easy-to-learn game mechanics,” Dan White, co-founder of Filament Games, said in a statement. “This makes a complex subject like engineering much more approachable and enjoyable to learn.”
According to a release, Backyard Engineers helps middle and high school students understand the principles of engineering design through experimentation. Users are required to build a water balloon catapult to learn how manipulating mechanical components affect their catapults’ range and accuracy.
The game will be available for purchase on Feb. 18.
