Sometimes you find opportunities, and sometimes opportunities find you.

In the spring of 2015, a casting representative from ABC’s “Shark Tank” called MobCraft CEO Henry Schwartz to encourage him to apply to be on the reality show in which entrepreneurs pitch their business to various investors.

After submitting an application and video, Schwartz went on with “business as usual” but then received good news from the show “sooner than expected.”

“We were ecstatic,” Schwartz said. “You never know if you’re going to be selected to be on the show.”

Schwartz’s appearance will air at 8 p.m. Friday, March 11.

Fortunately for Schwartz, he said he had been “actively pitching” since 2013, so he was well-rehearsed. His game plan was to focus on Damond John and Robert Herjavec in his pitch.

Although Schwartz’s agreement with ABC forbids him from describing the behind-the-scenes, he did describe walking out to the sharks as “intense.”

“The lights are on and you go,” Schwartz said. “You’re into the moment so intensely, and then it’s over. It felt like it went by very quickly.”

Schwartz said he and his team have been preparing internally for his national TV appearance. For example, he contacted his web firm to make sure their website could handle the anticipated traffic.

“The whole experience was fun and interesting,” Schwartz said. “Like no other experience.”
