Amulet has been awarded an SBIR grant for detecting histamine in fish, the company announced recently.
“Histamine poisoning is one of the leading causes of food poisoning globally, and we are thrilled to use our sensor platform to tackle broader food safety challenges like food poisoning,” Amulet CEO Abigail Barnes said in a statement.
According to a release, 38% of all seafood-borne disease outbreaks in the United States are caused by histamine positioning.
As previously reported, Amulet has two divisions, Amulet Scientific, which equips the industry with a detection platform for identifying food toxins and environmental contaminants, and Allergy Amulet, which alerts consumers to allergens in their food.
The amount of the grant wasn’t disclosed.
