Tech leaders and investors from across the country are hopefully more familiar with Madison, thanks to the recent efforts of the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber President Zach Brandon and Managing Director of Economic Development Kevin Little attended SXSW March 13-17 in Austin, Texas, and hosted an event to “spread the gospel of Madison businesses.”
According to Little, the event drew about 70 people, which included representatives from Wisconsin companies, Badger alumni from the Austin area and other VIPs with interest in learning more about Greater Madison.
“One of the best things about having a planned event at the conference was that it allowed us to promote Madison to a global audience,” Little said. “This is where I see great potential for us to build upon in the future, to let talent know that there are exciting things happening in Madison.”
Local startups that also attended SXSW include Solomo, Filament Games, 900dpi and Redox.
As a result of their trip, Little said the Chamber will return next year and organize a “special” Accelerate Madison event this summer, with details to be announced.
“I think there is great opportunity for us to scale our presence and provide a platform to promote Greater Madison and our growing startup community,” Little said.
