Company Profile: All for Schools

Take an every-day activity, like online shopping, and transform it into something that raises money for schools in your community.

That’s the idea behind All for Schools (AFS), a new online fundraising platform that partners with sites such as Groupon, Amazon and Nordstrom, allowing parents and other community members to fund schools through their online purchases.

Laurel Rundle, co-founder and CEO of AFS, said she and her team were always looking for ways to connect parents, schools and brands as well as raise funds for school necessities. By connecting the retail world with education, they realized it was possible to harness the online activities parents were already doing and raise these needed funds.

Parents or other supporters simply make online purchases through AllForSchools.com, and a portion of each sale goes to the school of their choice. According to Rundle, these funds can help with anything from textbooks to computer upgrades and more.

Funded by Robert B. Trussel Jr., a Milwaukee-born Marquette alumnus who founded Tempur-Pedic Inc., AFS is growing fast. Rundle said the company is on track to becoming the top fundraising tool for schools in Wisconsin, Illinois and Kentucky in the next few months.

In regards to Madison, Rundle said that the city “has a unique combination of cutting-edge technology companies, educational institutions and a small-town attitude that makes it the perfect place for a startup like ours.”

By the end of the year, AFS plans to be national, returning millions of dollars to schools.

To maximize the funds to schools, the team will “focus on making AFS simple-to-use, and offer the highest consumer value,” Rundle said. “We believe that is the key to building loyalty and frequent usage so our schools can raise more money.”
