After being inspired by the book The Checklist Manifesto by Atul Gawande, Mark McEahern and Philip Crawford were determined to think of ways to use checklists in the workplace. Shortly afterward, what started as an ordinary read turned into a business idea for numerous industries.
Manifestly, founded by McEahern and Crawford, helps teams manage and utilize checklists through auto-scheduling, collaboration features and notifications.
“Asking our peers about checklist software tools, it became apparent there was a niche that wasn’t being fulfilled in the marketplace as many other firms use paper and spreadsheets for their checklists,” Crawford said. “Our goal is to help organizations better leverage the simple power of checklists to deliver their products and services.”
Manifestly’s checklists are known as “runs” and can have multiple participants. They also provide real-time feedback and analytics for continuous improvement of the checklists.
According to Crawford, the Manifestly team is looking to increase its marketing efforts through social media and word-of-mouth, with a list of specific industries and bloggers it hopes to contact in the near future. Since Manifestly went live in January, it’s being used at three local companies while others are currently in the testing phase.
New users get a 30-day free trial of the software, with paid plans starting at $10/month for five users.
