Exact Sciences named Paul J. Limburg, M.D., M.P.H., as its co-chief medical officer, the company announced today.

“Dr. Limburg’s valuable mix of cancer prevention experience in both the clinical and scientific research arenas will provide a great advantage to our company,” Exact Sciences CEO Kevin Conroy said in a statement.

According to a release, Dr. Limburg is a gastroenterologist and a professor of medicine at Mayo Clinic. His duties at Exact Sciences will include assessing research opportunities to inform, expand and accelerate the adoption of effective colon cancer screening options such as Cologuard.

In addition to his Exact Sciences position, Dr. Limburg will continue his role at the Mayo Clinic.
