The Wisconsin Technology Council announced today that former Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) leader Carl Gunbrandsen will be inducted into the Wisconsin Investor Hall of Fame Nov. 16, as part of the Wisconsin Early Stage Symposium at Monona Terrace.
“WARF has patented and licensed inventions from university faculty for 90 years,” Wisconsin Technology Council President Tom Still said in a statement. “Today, it’s also known for investing in some of those same innovations, most often at the earliest levels. A good deal of the credit for that goes to Gulbrandsen. He joins a group on honorees who helped lay the groundwork for angel and venture investing in Wisconsin today.”
According to a release, Gulbrandsen was elected by a panel of nine judges and will be honored during a dinner of 80 invited angel and venture capitalists.
Gulbrandsen worked at WARF for nearly 20 years, helped create 4490 Ventures and the WARF Accelerator Program.
