Hyde, which was founded to disrupt the water sports industry, won the 2016 Governor’s Business Plan Contest, which concluded Wednesday during the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference held at the Alliant Energy Center.
The Elm Grove, Wis.-based company is the creator of the Wingman, a thin, U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket that can be inflated with a rip cord.
“We’ve been happy with the positive response we’ve gotten so far,” Hyde CEO Pat Hughes said. “We’re looking forward to getting (the Wingman) to market.”
Hyde, which also won the Advanced Manufacturing category, takes home cash and in-kind prizes.
Lynx Biosciences was tops in the Life Sciences category, POLCO in IT and Complete Phytochemical Solutions LLC in Business Services.The startups were part of the 13 finalists that presented to judges on Tuesday.
