OutSystems, a Boston-based provider of a low-code platform, has acquired Ionic, the company announced today.
According to a release, the acquisition will bring together two leaders in application development to help enterprise software teams elevate their performance and build better applications.
“I’m extremely proud of what Ionic and our community have accomplished and know that together Ionic and OutSystems will be an unstoppable force in enterprise application development,” Ionic CEO Max Lynch said in a statement. “With OutSystems, we’ll be able to take our vision even further, provide additional value to our customers and community members, and significantly increase our investments in open-source product development and R&D.”
Ionic, founded in 2012 by Lynch and Ben Sperry, will continue to operate independently and will complement the OutSystems Platform.
The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
