Ionic raised $8.5 million in its Series A round, the company announced today.
According to a release, the funds will be used to make Ionic easier to use, more capable, more efficient and more flexible. To date, Ionic has raised $12.2 million in total funding.
“This new round of funding helps us achieve those goals, and I’m excited that the team is already jumping into a higher gear, with several major Ionic releases in April alone,” Co-Founder Max Lynch said in a blog post.
General Catalyst led the round and was joined by Lightbank, Arthur Ventures and Founder Collective.
Ionic helps open up mobile development to all web developers, enabling them to use the languages and frameworks, like HTML, with which they’re familiar.
