The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation has awarded a $500,000 loan from its Technology Development Loan Program to Lucigen, the organization announced today.
According to a release, the money will be used to buy equipment for Lucigen’s platform, which will strive to provide test results of infectious diseases within 30 min. instead of typically hours or days.
“The important research done at Lucigen not only supports the Madison area economy, but also leads to potentially life-saving, medical innovation that affects the health and well-being of people across the country and around the world,” Gov. Scott Walker said in a statement. “We’re happy to offer support for this testing platform.”
The WEDC’s $6 million Technology Development Loan Program was created to help companies clear the hurdles that can be associated with bringing new technologies to market.
