Mackie Named NAI Fellow

The National Academy of Inventors announced recently that it has named Thomas “Rock” Mackie a fellow of its organization.

According to the NAI Fellows Program, fellow status is the highest professional distinction accorded solely to academic inventors.

Mackie is a University of Wisconsin emeritus professor of medical physics and human oncology. He has co-founded several companies, including TomoTherapy, Asto CT, HealthMyne, OnLume and Linectra.

Mackie also serves on the board of directors for SHINE Technologies.

The 2021 class of NAI fellows collectively holds more than 4,800 issued U.S. patents and represents 116 research universities and governmental and nonprofit research institutes worldwide.
