While Madison has begun to fill “a void for young entrepreneurs” over the past few years, it needs to continue focusing on its residents to grow the startup community, two local entrepreneurs said Thursday morning at the Madison Club.
Speaking at Downtown Madison Inc.’s monthly breakfast meeting, Scott Resnick of Hardin Design & Development and Chris Meyer of Sector67 told the audience that creating an environment where entrepreneurs can thrive will help all of Madison.
“The biggest thing that Madison offers is its people,” Meyer said. He explained how his organization is mentoring the next generation of aspiring entrepreneurs at the middle and high school levels.
That dovetailed with Resnick’s point that the community needs more mentors to help companies be successful.
“These (successful) companies are creating jobs,” Resnick said. “And they’re not all tech jobs.”
