Venture capital firm Revolution, along with UP Global and Google for Entrepreneurs, announced Tuesday the nine Madison-area companies selected as finalists for the Rise of the Rest Road Tour pitch competition, which stops in Madison on Oct. 6.
Beekeeper Data, CODAworx, Fishidy, MobCraft, Murfie, Project Foundry, Stemina Biomarker Discovery, SnowShoe Stamp and WholeTrees Structures will be competing for a $100,000 investment from AOL co-founder and investor Steve Case and a trip to the 2015 SXSW Startup Village in Austin, Texas, where they will compete for additional funding.
“The Fortune 500 companies of tomorrow are the startups of today,” Case said in a statement. “Many of them are being born in traditional tech hotbeds like Silicon Valley, but many are also growing in the rest of America. I am thrilled to lead this effort and to visit these five great cities.”
Included in the day’s activities are visits to EatStreet, ABODO, Drifty, gener8tor and 100State, a fireside chat with Case and The Atlantic’s Steve Clemons and the pitch competition, which starts at 4 p.m. at the Majestic.
After Madison, the Rise of the Rest Road Tour hits Minneapolis, Des Moines, Kansas City and St. Louis.
