MobileIgniter recently made the decision to pursue a market opportunity that transitioned the company’s initial realm of building apps to working on projects in agriculture, insurance and multiple consumer products, according to the company’s founders.
More specifically, MobileIgniter is now looking to fix inefficiencies in ideation, deployment and digital exhaust for companies by using the Internet of Things (IoT).
IoT describes the fact that every-day objects can be connected to the Internet to gather data, the analysis of which can lead to preventative maintenance and other benefits.
“A simple example might be a car alarm,” MobileIgniter Co-Founder Dominic DiMarco said. “If it is connected to the Internet, it can send alarm notifications to a smartphone so the owner can either report a problem or turn the alarm off remotely.”
According to DiMarco, MobileIgniter has a three-pillar IoT process: educate, ideate and prototype.
To move in this expansive direction, the company had to say goodbye to hundreds of subscribers to their previous mobile app platform. MobileIgniter will use IoT to build a new core group of Fortune 1000 companies and quickly expand, DiMarco said.
He added, “From our point of view, IoT is a strategic opportunity to improve the value of an existing product.”
The Madison-based startup currently has six full-time employees and is looking to grow that number in the coming months. The company recently worked with American Family Insurance.
