The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) is accepting online applications until March 8 for the $200,000 Community Building Entrepreneurial Support (CBES) program, which is focusing on creating opportunities for the LGBTQ community, minorities, veterans and women, the organization announced recently.
“We know the COVID-19 pandemic has taken a huge toll on communities of color and that women, in particular, were focused out of the workforce by the crisis,” WEDC CEO Missy Hughes said in a statement. “These grants are targeting the programs that can help people of color, women, veterans and LGBTQ community members move forward in the economy as entrepreneurs.”
According to a release, the money will be awarded to activities and programs that will enable and enhance access for founders from the referenced communities.
