The end of social media platform Nextt became official today in a blog post by CEO and Co-Founder Mark McGuire.
Nextt was a network designed to allow friends to share ideas and finalize plans in private. The company was founded in June 2012, but the site did not launch until November 2013.
According to McGuire, Nextt signed up “tens of thousands” of users, but the site’s features made the learning curve to use it “too high.”
“I remain convinced that we need a brand and service that optimizes our social future and that gets us back into the real world more often to experience life together with our face-to-face friends,” McGuire said. “I hope that someone takes the lessons from Nextt and the other failed startups in this space to create a winning model.”
