While it may seem obvious that technology has transformed the healthcare industry, people like Mark Bakken can see how first-hand.

The CEO of Nordic provided his insights as the keynote speaker at gener8tor’s Winter Launch Day Thursday night at the Barrymore Theatre.

“The whole healthcare system has been flipped upside down,” Bakken, who co-founded the healthcare IT company in 2010, said.

Bakken mentioned how the government, through Medicare and Medicaid, accounts for 60 percent of every hospital’s revenue. But now he’s starting to see how technology has lowered healthcare costs, and the demand for this technology has increased.

Nordic, as an Epic-only consulting firm, has taken advantage of the demand, growing to more than 300 consultants in just three years.

“There’s not enough people out there to help (all the) Epic customers,” Bakken said.
