NovoMoto placed third and won $20,000 in the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2016 Cleantech University Prize National Competition, held in June in Denver.
According to a release, Co-Founders Aaron Olson and Mehrdad Arjmand competed against 20 other semifinalist teams in a competition aimed to inspire the next generation of clean energy entrepreneurs and innovators. The duo will use the prize money to complete a prototype of the first NovoMoto solar power kiosk.
Olson and Argmand will travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo this summer to test the prototype.
In April, Novomoto won the Clean Energy Trust Challenge, collecting $90,000.
