OnLume, a medical device company developing surgical lighting technology, is the recipient of a Phase I SBIR grant through the National Cancer Institute SBIR worth $300,000.
“At OnLume, we believe that fluorescence guidance will play a major role in the future of surgery,” OnLume CEO Adam Uselmann said in a statement. “The generous support of the (National Institutes of Health) is enabling the research and development necessary to realize our vision.”
According to a release, the money will be used to accelerate work on a fluorescence image-guided surgery (FIGS) system. OnLume’s technology enables fluorescence-guided methods to work in the operation room without any discernible loss of light for surgeons.
