Two years and two exits for Jignesh Patel.
The University of Wisconsin professor’s data processing startup Quickstep Technologies was acquired by Pivotal, the company announced this week.
Patel, who will join Pivotal, also was the co-founder of Locomatix, which became part of Twitter in 2013.
“In the Quickstep project we have rethought from the ground up the algorithms that make up the DNA of data platforms so that the platform can deliver unprecedented speed for data analytics,” Patel said in a statement. “There is no better home for this technology than at Pivotal given Pivotal’s formidable track record in delivering real value to their customers in big data.”
According to a release, Quickstep’s technology will be integrated into Pivotal HAWQ and Pivotal Greenplum Database. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Pivotal is a digital transformations company based in San Francisco that works with companies such as AccuWeather, Groupon and Crescendo.
