Plumb Pharmaceuticals, a company that created a drug delivery technology platform for extended-release medications used in the treatment of opioid addiction, won the 2020 Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest, part of the annual Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference held virtually on Thursday.
Based in Madison, Plumb Pharmaceuticals was created by Jacqueline Hind, Lisa Krugner Higby, Timothy Heath and others.
The company also won the Life Sciences category. Other category winners include:
- Advanced Manufacturing: Advanced Ionics
- Business Services: Last Lock
- Information Technology: My GenomeRX
“Conventional therapies help suppress cravings by blocking opioid receptors,” Wisconsin Technology Council President Tom Still said in a statement. “However, relapse can occur between doses. What Plumb Pharma has done is create a way to help reduce relapses. Its technology can reduce costs for patients and providers alike, with potential to move beyond opioid abuse.”
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the finalists recorded presentations for the judges.
