Pyran announced recently that it has reached an agreement with an Illinois manufacturer to covert and distribute its PDO product.
According to a release, NAGASE Specialty Materials (NSM), a manufacturer of chemical technologies and distributor of specialty chemicals in Itasca, Ill., will convert Pyran’s 1,5-pentanediol (PDO) to 1,5-pentanediol diacrylate (PDDA) and then market it in North America and Europe.
“At Pyran, we are committed to delivering commercial value and enhancing our ability to expand the company’s high-performance, cost-efficient products and technology portfolio,” Pyran CEO Mel Luetkens said in a statement. “This partnership with NAGASE Specialty Materials further strengthens our ability to do just that.”
Financial terms were not disclosed for the agreement, which will allow NAGASE to be the first company to derivatize Pyran’s PDO for use in UV-cured formulations, including coatings and 3D printing.
