Area entrepreneurs will have a chance to collaborate on innovative projects and potentially form startup companies at the third annual Startup Weekend, held April 4-6 at the MGE Innovation Center.
“Essentially, this is an incubation ground for entrepreneurial behavior,” Allen Dines, assistant director for new ventures at the UW Office of Corporate Relations, said in a statement. “It’s a skill development process that will focus on three key abilities–honing an idea with potential, being able to execute and develop that idea, and telling a compelling story about why that idea is worthwhile.”
The event is organized by representatives of the University of Wisconsin, Edgewood College, Capital Entrepreneurs, Sector67 and Madworks Coworking.
According to a release, registration fees range from $49-$99 and cover the cost of instruction, mentorship, seven meals and a T-shirt.
Teams form on Friday night and work through the weekend, with final presentations beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday. Judges have not yet been announced.
About 100 people participated in each of the past two Startup Weekends, according to Dines.
