Bing Liang’s business plan for US University Pathways won the fourth annual Madison College Challenge held last Friday at Madison College’s Truax Campus.
Liang takes home $5,000 plus media training from Madison Noteworthy, a year-long membership to 100state and 1,000 business cards from Sourcehouse.
According to an organizer, Jeff Noble, finalists took advantage of one-on-one coaching and mentoring sessions from Madison College staff and pitch feedback from members of 100state.
“The end result was that the finalists all seemed more relaxed while presenting, and the quality of the plans and final presentations were outstanding,” Noble said.
In total, Madison College awarded more than $23,000 in cash and in-kind prizes.
Judges included Sean Cleary of Cleary Holidays Inc. and Cleary Building Corp., John Drury of MGE and Joey Frayne of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
The business plan competition is open to students enrolled at Madison College in at least one credit or non-credit course during the 2014-15 or 2015-16 school years. A feasibility analysis was due March 7, followed by the business plan April 18.
