The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) was one of the participating investors in Ubicept’s recently announced $8 million seed round.
Ubicept, a high-tech imaging firm, created new technology that can capture sharp images in extreme lighting conditions or high-speed motion. The Boston-based company was founded in 2021 by Sebastian Bauer, a former postdoctoral research associate at the University of Wisconsin.
“This technology has tremendous safety implications that positively impact people every day,” WARF Licensing Manager Michael Carey said in a statement.
With the funding, the company looks to expand its technology into the automotive industry as well as grow its team.
Other investors in the round include Ubiquity Ventures, MIT Media Lab’s E14 Fund, Phoenix Venture Partners and several other investors and angel contributors.
