The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and Invest in Wisconsin will help early-stage companies with a $1 million initiative, the organizations announced today.

According to a release, the initiative will provide capital, technical assistance and training to startup and early-stage technology-focused businesses statewide.

“Invest in Wisconsin and its partners have identified the need to reduce risk aversion for entrepreneurs in the technology business sector and to provide equitable financial opportunities to help them realize their business ideas,” Invest in Wisconsin Development and Marketing Director Lesley Hutchins said in a statement. “This investment from WEDC will really boost these activities.”

Invest in Wisconsin is a company formed from four of Wisconsin’s certified community development financial institutions.

WEDC is awarding a $500,000 grant through its Capital Catalyst Program to Community Assets for People, First American Capital Corporation and Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation; the three Invest in Wisconsin organizations will match the grant.
