Wellbe is making waves at the HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, announcing today that it has been named a finalist in two health-related tech competitions.
The company is one of five finalists in the Box + Dignity Health Patient Education App Challenge and one of five finalists in the Henry Ford Innovation Institute HealthTech Challenge. Winners are announced March 27 and March 5, respectively.
In the App Challenge, contestants must build tools that deliver health information and engage patients in taking a more proactive approach to their health. The winning team receives, among several prizes, a $100,000 investment in the form of a convertible note.
“We are excited to be on a national stage competing with innovators working to transform healthcare,” CEO James Dias said in a statement. “The competition gives us great exposure at exactly the time when the industry is looking to make the shift to value, and to be chosen as a finalist affirms that our solutions are the right track.”
Meanwhile, the HealthTech Challenge asked contestants to submit innovative mobile-health and IT solutions that address avoidable hospital re-admissions, with the winning team to receive an investment offer of up to $100,000.
“A hospital’s responsibility toward a patient has extended beyond the physical walls and the pressure is on to reduce readmissions,” Dias said. “We are happy to be part of this national discussion with innovators working to transform healthcare during a time when the industry is in need of new ideas.”
