Local entrepreneurs, inventors and creative thinkers can submit their products, services or organizations for the third annual Wisconsin Innovation Awards, organizers announced recently. Applicants have until May 15 to submit their nominations.

According to a release, the Wisconsin Innovation Awards highlight a variety of sectors, sizes and types of companies throughout the state. Numerous members of the business, startup, education, nonprofit and public sectors makeup the steering committee while a separate awards committee evaluates the nominees, ultimately selecting the winners.

Last year’s Madison-area winners include Alfalight Inc., Exact Sciences and Ionic.

American Family Insurance and Baker Tilly Virchow Krause will be the presenting sponsors of the 2016 Award Ceremony, which will be held Aug. 16 at the Wisconsin Union Theater.
